Repetition without irritation

Families describe the same exhaustion. Not the big crises, the loop. What day is it. Where is my wallet. When are you coming.

A companion answers every time with the same calm tone, which lowers the temperature of the whole house.

Orientation and routine

Short, predictable calls anchor the day. The companion can name the day, walk through a familiar morning, and mention who is visiting later.

  • Same voice, same time, same structure
  • Simple sentences and one step at a time
  • No quizzing and no correcting for its own sake

Where we draw the line

It does not argue with someone about what is real, and it does not pretend to be a family member in order to soothe. It says it is an AI when asked, including when the answer is not what someone hoped for.

For late-stage dementia, supervised in-person care is the need, and no phone call substitutes for it.

What the family learns

Recaps note what was repeated, what was confusing, and what steadied things. Over weeks that becomes a useful picture to bring to a clinician.
